Congressman Mo Brooks Votes Against Killing Unborn Babies Who Are Viable Outside the Womb

September 24, 2021
Press Release

Washington, DC— Congressman Mo Brooks today voted “No” on H.R. 3755, a radical bill that usurps states rights and legalizes killings of viable unborn American babies up to and including when a mother is in labor. Heartbreakingly, the bill passed the House 218-211, with ALL Republicans voting “No” and all but one Socialist Democrat voting "Yes."

This amoral bill ABOLISHES several categories of state pro-life laws that:

  • Protect the mother by requiring that abortions may only be done by physicians;
  • Implement parental consent laws;
  • Prevent the killings of unborn babies who are viable outside the mother’s womb; and,
  • Prohibit the killings of unborn babies based on their sex.

Congressman Brooks said, “Socialist Democrats’ radical, pro-abortion position has shifted from ‘safe, legal, and rare’[1] to, in some places, pro-infanticide.[2]. Their extreme position is repulsive and science denial of the first order because science confirms that human life begins at conception.”

Brooks continued, “America is one of only seven countries worldwide that allows abortions after 20 weeks. That puts America in the same category as notorious human rights abusers China and North Korea. That is not a record Socialist Democrats should be proud of.”

Brooks concluded, “The Socialist Democrats’ radical, anti-life position ignores the will of the American people. Per Marist polling in January 2021, 65% of Americans support the Constitution and states’ rights by allowing individual states to make abortion laws consistent with each state’s values. Further, that same poll reveals that 76% of Americans support significant restrictions on abortion. Further, polls show that 55% of Americans oppose abortion after 5 months and 79% of Americans oppose abortion after 7 months.”[3]
