Brooks Welcomes Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith to Huntsville
Huntsville, AL – Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) today welcomed Congressman Lamar Smith (TX-21), the chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, to Huntsville for a tour of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Congressman Brooks is a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee and serves as the vice chairman for the Space Subcommittee.
Today's trip was Lamar Smith's first visit to the Marshall Space Flight Center. Congressmen Smith and Brooks focused their visit on Marshall's new test stand and test facilities for Space Launch System lower stage components, the International Space Station's Payload Operations Center, Marshall's additive manufacturing (3D Printing) capabilities, and test facilities for the Space Launch System's computer and aeronautics components. Congressman Brooks also took Congressman Smith on a brief tour of the Davidson Center and its Saturn V rocket.

Congressman Mo Brooks said, “It was a privilege to welcome my friend, Chairman Lamar Smith, to Huntsville and introduce him to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and the incredible engineers and scientists in North Alabama who diligently support America's space program.
“As a result of President Trump and Chairman Smith’s leadership, America has refocused its commitment to space exploration and returned NASA funding to what its name implies: aeronautics and space. The Science, Space, and Technology Committee members understand the value of America’s space program and will fight for adequate funding. I was proud to share with Chairman Smith the contributions of the Tennessee Valley that support our space program and ensure American preeminence in human space exploration.”
