Washington, D.C. – Congressman Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) announced this evening that the Missile Defense Agency has awarded a contract to the Boeing Company for $41,161,620. The contract is for the development of the Standard Missile-3 Block IIB, and will initially bring more than 40 jobs to the region, along with an expansion in workforce later in the project’s development.

Congressman Brooks said, “this contract is good news for our workforce, which is one of the most skilled in the country. North Alabama is the national leader in missile defense, and the expertise of our citizens will help ensure that the United States maintains its missile defense edge.”

“Boeing’s decision to headquarter this effort in Huntsville reflects the dedication of our citizens,” Brooks added. “This is good for our workforce, and it’s good for our country. Along with Boeing, other contract winners were Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, which also have a significant Huntsville presence. These contracts help ensure that the Huntsville region will continue to make significant contributions to the development of missile defense technology.”
